2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the FitRats fitness tracking service
  • Track your progress in challenges
  • Display your data to other challenge participants
  • Improve app functionality and user experience
  • Send important service notifications

3. Information Sharing

3.1 With Other Users

  • Your challenge progress and check-ins are visible to other participants in the same challenge
  • Photos you upload are visible to other challenge participants
  • Your name and progress statistics are shown in challenge rankings

3.2 We Do Not Sell Your Data

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Camera and Photo Permissions

4.1 Camera Access

The app requests camera permission to allow you to:

  • Take photos of your meals for nutrition tracking
  • Capture progress photos for your fitness journey

4.2 Photo Storage

  • Photos are stored securely in our cloud storage
  • Photos are only accessible to you and other participants in your challenges
  • You can delete your photos at any time

4.3 Optional Feature

Photo uploads are completely optional. You can use all core features of FitRats without uploading any photos.

5. Apple Health and Health Connect

You can connect FitRats to Apple Health on iPhone or to Health Connect on Android. Connecting is optional, and the system's permission screen lets you choose each type of data.

5.1 What FitRats reads

  • Workouts (type, start time and duration), to mark your strength, cardio and movement goals for the day
  • Your daily step count, to fill your steps goal
  • Weight, to bring weigh-ins from smart scales into FitRats

5.2 What FitRats writes

  • The meals you log in FitRats (calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat)
  • The weigh-ins you enter in FitRats

5.3 How this data is used

  • Only to provide FitRats' fitness features: your day's goals, your progress and your challenges.
  • Your challenge group sees your day's result and the goals it ticked, as when you enter them yourself, and the kind of device a workout came from (for example "via Apple Watch"). Health records themselves are not shown to anyone.
  • If you use the FitRats coach, it sees your day's results, including goals ticked from Health, in order to answer you.
  • Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with advertising platforms or data brokers.
  • Health data is not stored in iCloud.
  • FitRats' use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5.4 Your control

  • You can disconnect at any time in FitRats (Settings → Connections), and revoke access in the Health app or in Health Connect's settings.
  • Workouts and weigh-ins already imported stay in your FitRats history until you delete them. Deleting your account deletes them.

6. Data Security

  • All data is transmitted using encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Photos and personal data are stored securely using industry-standard practices
  • We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information

7. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time
  • Challenge data may be retained for historical purposes but can be anonymized upon request

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and data
  • Export your data
  • Withdraw consent for optional features

9. Children's Privacy

FitRats is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Third-Party Services

10.1 Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (name, email) according to Google's privacy policy.

10.2 Cloud Storage

We use secure cloud storage services to store your data and photos.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes through the app or via email.
